My Personal Journey: From 'Hidden' Hot Mess to My Authentic Self. Hey there, I'm Candice—a Recovery Perfectionist and People Pleaser. I didn't get into counseling because I thought I had all the answers; quite the opposite, actually. Like many therapists, I found my calling because I wanted to understand and heal myself and those I love. It's been a journey of embracing imperfections and learning to navigate life's twists and turns. Along the way, I've soaked up knowledge about human experiences, relationships, and mental health through over 8 years of schooling, countless workshops, and a stack of self-help books that keeps growing. Learning has become a passion that keeps me growing every day. Approaching 40, I'm grateful for the highs and lows that have shaped me. I'm a proud mom to two amazing kids under 7 and happily married to a husband who faces chronic pain with courage. We recently welcomed Teddy, our Labradoodle, into our family—he's in training to become an Assisted Therapy Dog, and you can meet him at the office on Thursdays! My personal journey includes facing challenges head-on, from navigating a late diagnosis of ADHD as an adult to coping with postpartum anxiety and depression and letting go of the pressures of perfectionism and people-pleasing. I've tried my fair share of "quick fixes" and collected more planners than I care to admit in my quest for balance and authenticity. Life isn't perfect, but it's the imperfections that make it beautiful. I'm here to share what I've learned and support others on their own journeys to self-acceptance and personal growth.

My Professional Journey I started 20 years ago as a volunteer with the RCMP in the victim services unit. I was captivated by the profound impact we can have on others' lives. This passion led me to leave a promising career in the oilfield and pursue social work. I knew deep down that this was my calling. Since then I have worked in a variety of areas such as domestic violence, human trafficking, and brain injury rehabilitation. I believe that although challenging circumstances, difficult times, and suffering is unavoidable in life. By getting involved you can make a positive difference in someone’s life, sometimes simply just by listening to their story.

Why I Love my Job One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing "aha" moments. There's a unique joy that fills me when someone experiences a breakthrough, when the proverbial light switch turns on and they see the world through a new lens. It's a transformative moment when someone releases the weight of shame, hopelessness, or pain that they have been carrying.   In my practice, I hold the belief that everyone is an expert in their own life. It is not my role to dictate how anyone should live, but rather to offer unwavering support and provide options for growth. Together, we will navigate your journey, and I will be there to lend a compassionate ear and guide you towards the path that feels right for you. While I don't possess all the answers, I do know that during my most difficult moments, the most powerful act was having someone genuinely listen to me with empathy and without judgment. I've come to believe that the bravest thing a person can do is pick themselves up and try again after falling down. As an expert listener with an open mind, I offer a safe space where you can share your story, knowing that nothing about you or what you reveal will ever be ‘too much’ and no issue is too ‘small’.  I have been privileged to listen to the life stories of countless individuals. I promise you a genuine, approachable, and non-judgmental environment.
